Youth Program Coordinator (Part-time) 

Tacoma Arts Live is a 501(c)(3) non-profit 45 year-old arts organization that is committed to producing the highest quality programs and to the belief that our ability to contribute to excellence in the arts depends on building a community whose members come from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences. We are seeking a Youth Program Coordinator for the Tacoma BRAYVE (Building Resilience Against Youth Violence and Exploitation) LENS (Learning Empathy Negotiation & Self) program, and encourage qualified individuals who bring diverse perspectives to the workplace to apply!

Since its inception in 1979 as a nonprofit organization, Tacoma Arts Live has played a pivotal role in revitalizing downtown Tacoma through the performing arts, growing into the South Sound's largest performing arts organization. Annually, it serves over 140,000 community members, a testament to its significant impact and reach within the community. Based in the heart of the city, its home at the Tacoma Armory is a central hub for creativity and community engagement, transforming live experiences and elevating community and arts education.

Tacoma Arts Live's dedication to community service is evident through its multifaceted engagement activities, which include presenting and producing performing arts experiences, providing dynamic education programs serving 40,000 learners in schools across multiple districts and counties, and engaging diverse audiences through collaborations, community gatherings, and festivals. Notably, Tacoma Arts Live boosts diverse voices by providing support to BIPOC and women-owned creative and cultural enterprises through its small business incubator ACE (Accelerating Creative Enterprise.)

Position: Youth Program Coordinator
Under the Senior Manager of Education and/or the Chief Engagement Officer, the BRAYVE Youth Program Coordinator leads the development and implementation of the Tacoma BRAYVE LENS program. This includes immersing themselves in the neighborhoods served, building relationships with neighborhood businesses, community organizations, centers, etc., identifying new locations for programming, scheduling and planning for program delivery, as well as coordinating with Tacoma Public Schools administrators and educators for program implementation in schools. Priority service areas for this program are South and East Tacoma. 

Pay rate is $21 - $23 per hour DOE 

Open until filled. 

The position is part-time, working generally 24 hours per week. This is a hybrid position, but much of the work will require a presence at various locations in Tacoma. This is a grant-funded position through December 31, 2025. There is an opportunity for this position to extend through December 31, 2026. 

  Responsibilities: 

• Coordinate Tacoma BRAYVE programming, including timely completion of paperwork, program promotion, recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, and communications  
• Supervise Tacoma BRAYVE Teaching Artists, Mentors, and contractors 
• Sustain and grow relationships with program participants and partner organizations 
• Facilitate BRAYVE programming workshops and events as needed 
• Lead program reporting and data tracking 
• Participate in regular staff meetings 
• Ensure budget fidelity in all programs within position portfolio 
• Teach in Tacoma Arts Live education programs as needed 
• Other duties as assigned 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

• College degree preferred, but equivalent experience is acceptable 
• Experience working with community partners, school staff and administrators, parents, and students 
• Experience and/or skills in performing arts/theater production 
• Demonstrated experience working with learners and community members diverse in age, gender, race, culture and economics 
• Solid work ethic with attention to detail 
• Goal oriented and professional demeanor 
• Strong organization and communication skills 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams, and Zoom 
• Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. 
• Driver’s license and insured vehicle
