POSITION: Youth Services Assistant II

SUPERVISOR: Youth Services Supervisor

SUPERVISES: N/A

LOCATION:  Maring-Hunt Library (MH) @ 2005 S High St, Muncie, IN 47302 

JOB TYPE: Part-time

SCHEDULE: 25 hours/week; MH open hours are Mon-Fri 10am-7pm, Sat 1-5pm 

COMPENSATION: Min $13.00/hour

POSITION PURPOSE

To assist Supervisor in developing and implementing programs, services and displays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform these functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and implementation of programs, displays and services as assigned
  • Assist Supervisor with collection maintenance as assigned
  • Work Youth Services Desk to assist children and parents with finding materials
  • Assist children with computer applications and troubleshoot as needed
  • Shelve materials and compile statistics for the department

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Experience working with children
  • Some library work experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Image: Portray a positive image of the Library; be a strong public ambassador and promote Library programs, materials and services.
