Description
The Youth Services Summer Reading Aide is a 10-week, 22 hours a week, part-time temporary position from May 27, 2025 through August 1, 2025.
This person will provide a warm and welcoming presence at the Youth Services summer reading desk. The Summer Reading Aide will work directly with our teen volunteers at the summer reading desk actively promoting the summer reading program and our library programs and services as they assist patrons creating the optimal library experience for all those that visit.
The required work schedule is as follows:
Sundays 1:00pm-5:00pm, Mondays 2:00pm-6:00pm, Tuesdays 2:00pm-6:00pm, Fridays 2:00pm-6:00pm, Saturdays 11:00am-5:00pm.
The pay for this position is $17/hour.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
· High school degree required.
· Minimum one year of work experience in a position interacting with children.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain and foster cooperative, courteous working relationships with a multicultural/multigenerational staff and patron population
· Successfully handles multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
· Works independently and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines
· Can operate a personal computer; has knowledge of email, Windows, Excel, and basic word processing functions
· Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis
