JOB TITLE: Senior Engineer -Geotechnical Field and Office

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise or coordinate with a team of engineers and designers/ construction team at site in carrying site geotechnical activities as part of filed engineering and provide necessary geotechnical support for all site activities in accordance with the projects specification and approved methods statements and drawings
• Review of all project specifications and geotechnical reports (Design basis, earth works specifications, piling specifications, geotechnical reports, other project specific recommendations, etc..)
• Supervision of piling works in soft clay (Installation & testing), ground improvement works, and site preparation activities.
  
• Review and approval of the method statements for pile installation (Bored cast in-situ piles and precast concrete driven piles) and static pile load tests, dynamic pile load tests and pile integrity tests.
  
• Supervision of the embankment construction, slope formations, temporary dewatering, and drainage management.
  
• On site day-to-day visit and recommendations for foundation excavations and soil replacement, layered compaction and witnessing in-situ tests, as necessary after due discussion with Engg team.
  
• Dealing with chemically aggressive soils/ground water (corrosive nature of soils/water)
  
• On site recommendations on foundation excavations, filling, cutting, earthwork embankments, depending on the actual soil/rock type encountered at site.
  
• Supervising the day-to-day earth works for cutting and filling, UG services such as EIT trenches, Storm water drain, AOC, OWS & Sanitary services UG network, UG Pits and ensuring the compliance of project specifications.
  
• Suitability check for back fill material and recommendations, as per the specifications
  
• Supervision and recommendations for deep excavations, dewatering if any after consulting Engg team
  
• Quality control verification of geotechnical activities at site
  
• Supervision of execution of special requirements against problematic soil/rock nature (eg. Swelling, collapsibility, gypcecious, soil contamination, chemical aggressiveness, etc.) as necessary after due discussion with Engg team
  
• Site Supervision and ensuring the proper installation of HDPE/geogrid/similar material at site as per the design requirement.
  
• Other geotechnical recommendations as may be required at site depending on the variation in soil/rock conditions across the site.
  
• Ensuring that construction follows the geotechnical recommendations given in the report and other construction drawings
  
• Preparation of site observation report/any other reports required for COMPANY approval process
  
• Daily interaction with Engineering team at Sharjah as well as Highlighting the major issues and seeking concurrence on decisions taken at site.
  
• Follow-up and coordinate with subcontractor for geotechnical survey works, ground improvement and piling work. Validate works executed by subcontractor and identify deviations from original work scope requirements.
  
• Carries out studies for temporary support of excavations
  
• Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertaining to the Geotechnical engineering discipline.
  
• Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction.
  
• Skill in oral and written communication.
  
• Interact with Quality Assurance for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company’s ISO Quality procedures. Coordinate Internal and Client audit requests; facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems within the department.
  
• Comply to quality and design integrity assurance.
  
• Awareness on HSE requirements for Oil & Gas and refinery projects
  
• Coordinate with inter-discipline departments.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Sr. Geotechnical Engineer with Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering having min 10 years of experience in the field of geotechnical engineering preferable from a background in working at site in the EPC of the Oil and Gas Industry
• Candidate shall be familiar with pre-cast driven piles in soft clays, pile testing and reports
  
• Candidate shall be familiar with ground improvement techniques
  
• Candidate should have exposure to BS, ASTM, Euro and Indonesian local standards & construction practices , and other foreign codes/standards and practices pertaining to geotechnical works and designs.
  
• Candidate shall have minimum 5 years of similar site experience
  
• Experience in BP standards and Projects
