Deskripsi Pekerjaan - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR – JAKARTA

ROLE PURPOSE

Design and implement strategic revenue model for Save the Children Indonesia (SC IDN) towards a diversified NGO, with focus to achieve target of 30 million USD portfolio by 2030 and build organizational capabilities towards financial sustainability, through diversified revenue streams. Major focus in short to medium-term is to increase unrestricted portfolio through various revenue streams (mainly Individual Giving), explore innovative financing scheme, and strengthen CERDAS’s business plan as SC IDN’s future business unit to ensure financial sustainability of SC IDN. 

SCOPE OF ROLE

Reports to: Chief of Program Impact Creation

KEY AREA OF ACCOUNTABILITY 

1. Strategic Development of SC IDN Revenue Model

  • Lead the strategic development of SC IDN revenue model as part of its pathway towards the diversified NGO, with target of minimum 30 million USD income per year by 2030, with 40% of unrestricted portfolio
  • Lead the development of annual workplan and budget for Resources Mobilization and CERDAS unit, align with the Country Strategic Plan and institutional priorities
  • Develop and implement risk management related to the strategic revenue model planning and implementation, including but not limited to compliance to governance, laws and regulations; in collaboration with Legal & Corporate Manager of SC IDN 
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the social and financial impact of individual giving, for-profit ventures, and CERDAS. Manage and ensure performance team meet the desirable level
  • Provide high level review and oversee of regular reporting required by SC IDN related to Resources Mobilization and CERDAS, such as portfolio/pipeline progress reports for financial or budgeting purpose, etc. 
  • Develop strategy and engagement plan (both for internal and external) to getting strategic investments, and manage unforeseen risk for the organization in investment budget allocation by implementing a solid risk management plan.

2. Team Management and Development 

  • Manage and develop the Resources Mobilization and CERDAS team and performance, to be align with each unit’s pathway towards the medium to long-term journey of SC IDN transformation 
  • Manage annual development and review of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as well as discuss and facilitate required professional development plan for each team members to grow align with SC IDN required competencies

3. Grow Unrestricted Income and Explore Innovative Finance Scheme for SC IDN

  • Leads the development, execution, and evaluation of strategy to increase unrestricted income portfolio through diversified revenue streams, including Individual Giving (IG) and potential innovative finance for SC IDN.
  • Provide strategic directions and advise to the Komunitas Pahlawan Anak (KPA) as the community platform and ecosystem for individual donors to deliver positive impacts for children
  • Recommend and lead the coordination to build internal enabling conditions at SC IDN in increasing and managing unrestricted income, including but not limited to related policies in finance, cross-department collaboration in implementing the strategy to increase unrestricted income, etc.
  • Leads the identification of innovative financing scheme relevant to SC IDN’s modality, readiness, and objectives for the medium to long-term in order to build financial sustainability and increase unrestricted income portfolio.

4. Build Financial Sustainability

With the Chief PIC and CFO, develop strategy and roadmap for organizational financial sustainability in the long-term, including but not limited to increasing reserves funds and continuous unrestricted income to cover core operational cost. 

5. Strengthen CERDAS Business Plan as the Future For-Profit Unit

  • In 2024 focus to review CERDAS performance and revisit CERDAS’ business plan for its pathway to be a future business unit of SC IDN, with the target to be an independent business unit in the medium-term with potential diversified services.
  • Manage CERDAS team (business development and research manager) to deliver its commitment and workplan in 2024 to strengthen SC IDN organization research capabilities.

RELATION WITH OTHERS

Internal relation: Units within PIC Department and other departments in SC IDN, including Finance, Partnerships & Program Operations, People & Transformation, Advocacy, Communications, Campaign and Media (ACCM), other SC Members. 

External relation: international and national stakeholders/donors, including institutional donors, foundations, corporate partners, associations, High-Net Worth Individual (HNWI), and Komunitas Pahlawan Anak (executives and members).

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  1. Master's degree in business administration, finance, or social science with minimum of 15+ years of experience in a leadership role in fundraising and business development, preferably in social enterprise or non-profit sector
  2. Proven experience in business development, innovative finance, or a related field with solid understanding about non-profit management and enabling conditions towards financial sustainability in non-profit 
  3. Experience in developing business plan and roadmap for a small-scale business unit, with successful new investments generated for business development through high-level network engagement 
  4. Excellent strategic and analytical mindset, strong financial literacy, and ability to present business model and plan to the Board Member, High-Net Worth Individual (HNWI), and other high-level strategic network for supports and investments
  5. Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and fluent in both English and Bahasa Indonesia 
  6. Demonstrated leaderships quality in managing large-scale team members and support professional development for the team
  7. Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s vision, values and principles, including rights-based approaches in Indonesia 

Preference

  1. Experience in managing various innovative financing scheme and dealing with investors, investment fund manager, or other relevant financial institutions
