Landing Pad Manager

The role:
The Austrade Southeast Asia Landing Pads for Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City were announced by Prime Minister Albanese at the 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne on Tuesday 5 March 2024. Read the Prime Minister’s announcement here. The Landing Pad program is primed to support Australian technology scale ups that are market-ready. They also need to have potential for rapid growth with vision, traction, scalability and differentiation. These two new locations join an existing network of 6 other Landing Pads | Austrade and staff across the Austrade global network which is supported by Austrade technology client Advisors in Australia.  The SEA Landing Pad (LP) Managers will be responsible for in-market Landing Pad program design and delivery, to support Australian technology companies, in particular scale-ups, to achieve commercial success in Indonesia and Vietnam. Working to relevant Trade Commissioner (TC) or Senior TC, the LP Managers will be responsible for working with existing tech BDMs in-market (where relevant), coordination with a regional network of tech Business Development Managers (BDMs) and members of the Southeast Asia Landing Pad team in Australia.  This program is funded to 30 June 2027.

Duties include:
• Developing and maintaining productive, high-level business networks with investors, partners (including in-market accelerators and industry associations) and customers to facilitate trade connections for Australian tech companies. 
• Monitoring and assessing key tech trends in their market, as well as significant commercial developments in the market to identify commercial opportunities and provide thought leadership and insights on existing and emerging opportunities, and advice for Australian businesses to effectively sell into those markets. 
• Providing Austrade trade services to Austrade tech clients, with the aim of helping clients gain significant commercial traction in market. Do this by: 
o Working with the broader Austrade team in Indonesia, Southeast Asia and Australia to identify and prioritise sub-sectors in-market aligned with Australian tech capabilities, and contribute to Austrade’s strategy for delivering commercial outcomes in these sub-sectors 
o Actively engaging with industry and commercial players in market to identify and qualify market opportunities in identified priority sub-sectors 
o Leading coordination and delivery of multiple annual cohorts to market, including arranging for an effective presence for Team Australia at key in market events 
o Providing 1-to-1 trade services to clients 
• Contribute to Austrade marketing efforts for the sector and of Landing Pad program delivery.
• Provide support to whole-of-government tech initiatives in market, in collaboration with interagency and State and Territory representatives in market. 
• Design and manage an annual program strategy and budget, delivering activities aligned to budget and strategic objectives.

To be eligible for consideration and appointment you must have:
•  Work Authorisation - to be eligible for employment with Austrade in Jakarta, candidates must be legally authorized to live and work in Jakarta at the time of appointment.
•  Security Clearance - the successful applicant must be willing to complete an Entry Level Screening Pack and be confirmed as a suitable person to access Government resources prior to commencement in the
