Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our Commissioning team in Gresik, Indonesia.

This opportunity will see you working for Hatch on Freeport Indonesia’s copper smelter and precious metals refinery project in Gresik, East Java. Once fully operational, the new smelter complex could process 1.7 million tonnes of copper concentrate annually into 550,000 tonnes of copper cathode, which can be further processed into electrical wiring, pipes and car batteries, among other products. The metallurgical complex will include a Smelter, Electro refinery and Precious Metal Refinery. 

Hatch’s project scope covers detailed engineering, award and procurement of pre-purchased equipment, contract formation, construction, and commissioning of the Precious Metals Refinery. 

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Be responsible for and lead project Commissioning Team(s) as assigned by the Commissioning Manager in Hatch offices during planning and on client sites during execution. This responsibility includes supporting recruitment, mobilisation, training, supervision and de-mobilisation of personnel including vendors and technical specialists
• Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to ensure efficient plant handover to commissioning and achieving an optimal commissioning schedule. This includes ensuring testing requirements are included in the design (for example bypass lines, temporary power and water, module isolation valves) and where possible construction programs are aligned with the optimal commissioning sequence
• Be responsible for the quality assurance and control of all project commissioning deliverables and activities on a project
• Be responsible for early identification of commissioning resource requirements and assisting Hatch train, develop and recruit high quality commissioning personnel. 

You will bring to the role.

 

• Relevant Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent experience
• Commissioning Engineer must have at least 5 years specific experience in the supervision of specialized commissioning personnel on new electrical facilities
• A broad knowledge of installation, functional testing, and operation of Mechanical, Instrumentation, Piping and Electrical Systems utilized for various processes. As a Commissioning Engineer, it is critical to be able to direct multi-discipline teams and to see the entire picture of the operating plant.
• Knowledge, skills and ability to manage a diverse group of technical, project and operating personnel
• Significant technical background in energy, mining and / or mineral processing.
