We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to support our Netherlands & Belgium team with daily financial operations and reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and experience working in an international environment, along with fluency in English and Dutch.

Main Purpose of the role:

To support the supervision and development of the accounting team while ensuring accurate financial operations, regulatory compliance, effective reporting, and business continuity, as well as serving as a key finance partner for management and regional stakeholders within an international environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in compliance with local regulations and reporting standards.
• Supervise and develop the Finance team by overseeing performance, KPIs, training, and business continuity while contributing to regional and global finance projects.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, internal controls, audits, and SAP finance processes to support efficient financial operations.
• Prepare financial statements, statutory reports, budgets, and periodic financial analyses to support business performance and management decision-making.
• Oversee tax compliance, reporting obligations, and relationships with relevant authorities while ensuring adherence to internal policies and external legal requirements.
• Act as a trusted financial advisor to the Country Manager and provide guidance on financial strategy, risk management, and process improvements.
• Ensure effective management of corporate and administrative matters, including contracts, insurance, and other compliance-related obligations.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting, accounting processes, and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency and governance.

• Certified Accountant with expertise in Finance, Accounting, Reporting, or Tax.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in finance or accounting.
• Experience in accounting or finance roles within international or global organizations.
• Strong analytical skills, reliability, and a high standard of professional ethics.
• Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid knowledge of finance and accounting principles and proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with SAP; knowledge of the shipping industry is an advantage.
• Fluent business-level English and Dutch.
• Willingness to participate in regional and global finance projects.
