Tip 1: Prioritise, prioritise, prioritise

It almost seems as though you cannot separate the word ‘prioritise’ away from ‘productivity’. They always come in pairs and in most articles speaking of the latter subject, you’re more than likely to find the former accompanying it.

Well, that’s probably because it’s that much important and related! In order to stay productive at work, individuals will undoubtedly have to prioritise their tasks in order of importance or urgency. And sometimes, both!

I’ve learned that the best way to deal with the never-ending mountain of tasks awaiting us is by preparing a list. A to-do list of all the work that you have to get done. Then, arrange them in order of what needs to go out first.

Arranging them by submission dates or deadlines allows you to see how-much work you need to complete in how-much time. Next, I tend to allocate each of these tasks an estimate amount of time it will take for completion.

This allows me to plan and schedule my days as well as work. After all that’s done, your priorities should be laid out for you!

And if your priorities are in order, productivity should soon follow! 😉

Tip 2: Be wise and concise when communicating

One of the biggest reasons work ends up getting piled up is due to the delay faced in communication. We’re all too familiar with the delayed responses from our colleagues or clients. Whether that delay happens over emails, texts, calls or meetings, this can be resolved!

Being wise and concise when communicating is one way to ensure that you can keep your productivity levels high. In choosing to be concise, your readers won’t have to comb through numerous paragraphs of text to find your point or question.

In other cases, compile all your questions in one place, instead of sending them one after another! The entire process of going back and forth can be extremely time-consuming. And can definitely slow down your productivity levels at work too.

It’s no fun attending to several, unexpected emails one after another when it have all been sorted out at once!

As such, be wise and concise when communicating with your colleagues and clients!

Tip 3: Take timely breaks

As ironic as the idea of taking breaks may sound in an article that talks about ways to stay productive at work, it still remains a fact!

Productivity levels are boosted when the mind is ready to work. Overworking your brain to the extent and point of exhaustion can lead individuals to a burnout. As such, in order to stay productive at work, you have to take timely breaks too.

After ticking off each item on your to-do list, give some time off to your brain too. This allows you and your system to relax before jumping right into the next project waiting for you.

Taking a break as short as 5 minutes can help prevent you from getting too stressed. Use your break time to catch up with a colleague over coffee. Alternatively, walk around the office space to stretch out those muscles!

Ensure you give your eyes a break by staying away from technological devices too. Taking in some greenery can surely help too!

And that’s a short and simple guide that can help you stay productive while you’re at work! If you have been wondering how to work more efficiently, we hope this article is of help to you!
