BASF has been operating in Singapore since 1978. BASF posted sales to customers in Singapore of about €1.06 billion in 2013 and had 713 employees there as of the end of the year. BASF maintains one of its two Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Singapore, along with local production, a trading business, and the headquarters of ASEAN and several global and regional business units. In addition, BASF’s Global Research Center, which does research and development on functionalized materials, nanotechnology, organic electronics and energy & resources, is also based in Singapore.

BASF maintains a presence throughout the ASEAN region, with seven wholly owned subsidiaries and five joint ventures, in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. BASF posted sales to customers in ASEAN of about €2.69 billion in 2013 and employed 3,758 people as of the end of the year.
