About our company

Starpet Marketing Pte Ltd was started in the year 2002. The company chanced upon the opportunity by distributing small animal products when the competition for the small animal market was relatively small. The local suppliers were mainly importing dogs and cats products. We were the first company to import a Japanese range of small animal treats and accessories into Singapore which also coincides with the influence of the Japanese culture aka J-pop and its association with made in Japan.

With it, comes the colorful range of Japanese accessories and fancy cages that have captured the likes of children, teens, and even adults to start keeping small animals such as hamsters, rabbits, and guinea pigs. As the upkeep is inexpensive as compared to dogs and cats, parents regard this as the learning stage of the kid’s responsibility before they switch to keeping dogs or cats. Though the word’s on the packaging were in Japanese, the Japanese have created the explanation by using the illustration that children or adults can identify and understand from the cartoons about its usage.

During this time, our operation was started in an office space of about 300sqf with 3 partners handling packing, invoicing, accounts and delivery. With the increase in stocks, we have less room for walking and packing. This has resulted in inconvenience to our neighbors as we have to use the corridor to pack our products. As the sales grew, the company has decided to expand to a proper and bigger warehousing space with better facilities which will enable us to grow further by importing more range.

Gradually we expanded our range island-wide to our retailers as it will help us reach our consumers. We became the biggest suppliers of food, treats, and accessories from Japan, Europe, and America for small animals. From then on the rest is history… and till today our company is still associated as the company to look for Japanese products.
