Wenaas was founded in 1931 by Lars Wenaas in Måndalen, Norway, starting as a small clothing business in his basement. After the post-war recovery, the company steadily expanded, moving into larger facilities and shifting focus to workwear and leisurewear. By the early 1950s, Wenaas was producing its own branded products, and in the 1970s, the "Wenaas Workwear" trademark was born.
During the 70s, Wenaas entered the offshore industry by supplying PPE, including flame-retardant garments, to companies in the oil industry. Over the following decades, Wenaas continued to grow, securing contracts with major companies like Aker, Statoil, and Hydro, and expanding its product lines to meet emerging safety standards, such as EN standards for hazardous work environments.
In the 90s, Wenaas expanded through strategic acquisitions, gaining expertise in uniforms, firefighting clothing, and safety shoes, becoming a comprehensive PPE supplier. The company’s innovative approach led to the development of Europe’s most modern workwear production facility.
Today, Wenaas continues to be a leader in PPE with a strong focus on customer-centric solutions, efficient logistics, and continuous innovation, offering a wide range of workwear, including flame-retardant, high-visibility, and stretch garments. The company’s recent focus on modern design and sustainability ensures its position as a leader in the industry.
