Job Description - Credit Control Technician (12-months contract)

Role Title: Credit Control Technician

Department: Operations

Location: Singapore

Type: 12 months contract

Job Summary

  • Under general supervision, the Credit Control Technician is responsible for supporting the collection of broker debts, reconciliation, and allocation of cash across all APAC branches. This includes:
    • Driving timely premium collection and accurate cash allocation.
    • Managing debt and unallocated cash levels to meet personal, branch, and APAC targets.
    • Establishing and maintaining internal and external relationships to reduce debt and keep debt within acceptable levels.
    • Working with relevant teams to clear outstanding unallocated cash.
    • Supporting process improvements and compliance with service levels and targets
    • Split of work by region (%):
      • Asia: 60%
      • Australia: 40%

Job Responsibilities:

  • Debt Collection & Cash Allocation
    • Follow up on outstanding debts within agreed thresholds.
    • Investigate and resolve unallocated cash items.
    • Collaborate with PST teams to ensure timely and accurate cash allocation in line with SLAs and targets.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers to maximize cash collection and deliver exceptional customer service.
    • Review and investigate overdue premium items, track progress, and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues.
    • Document all identified issues and actions taken for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Credit Control
    • Support best practices for credit control and debt processes to keep debt within agreed thresholds.
    • Assist in implementing action plans for the reduction of current debt volumes/values.
    • Help establish and follow processes on best practice, including how to review and investigate overdue premium items.
    • Compile, track, and drive actions from different teams to resolve debts.
    • Identify booking improvements which impact on cash & debt processes and collaborate with the data entry teams to implement process improvement.
    • Support the resolution of outstanding premium for debts aged greater than 6 months.
    • Establish root cause of unallocated cash, identify trends and establish applicable process improvements.
  • Customer Service
    • Participate in regular meetings with internal stakeholders (underwriters, distribution teams, finance, and group) to discuss main drivers of unallocated cash/debtors.
  • Reporting & Data
    • Support reporting, data, and analytics associated with unallocated cash and debt within the region.
    • Assist with the analysis of data as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Practical experience in a financial or insurance organization.
  • Strong understanding of credit control processes.
  • Ability to maintain and manage external, market-facing relationships.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and reporting.
  • Advanced Excel and MI expertise.
  • Basic knowledge of financial reporting principles.
