Job Description - ACCOUNTING CLERK

We are a construction company looking to employ an Accounting Clerk. You will be responsible for day-to-day financial operations, and any related to financial management, reporting, and compliance within an organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Prepare, verify, post and maintain financial records, invoices, payments and receipts.
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  • Maintain and organize accounting records, files and supporting documentation.
  • Enter financial data accurately into accounting software and spreadsheets.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Generate routine financial reports, summaries and documentation for management.
  • File and organize accounting records for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Prepare journal entries for month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Respond to vendor, customer, and internal accounting inquiries.
  • Assist with payroll processing and employee expenses reimbursements.
  • Handle and maintain full sets of accounts and GST submission.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations and preparing tax returns (e.g., GST/VAT, corporate income tax).
  • Assisting in tax planning strategies to optimize tax efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Accounting/Finance - At least 3-5 years of experience in full set of accounts.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Accounting in Construction industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Psoft, 365 BC Accounting and Opensoft payroll system) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong numerical, organizational, and data-entry skills.
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and time-management skills.
  • Team player and good working attitude.

  • Knowledge in Singapore Accounting Standards and Tax
  • Financial recordkeeping
  • Data entry and accuracy
  • Account reconciliation
  • Problem-solving
  • Confidentiality and integrity
  • Organization and multitasking
  • Knowledge in BC Accounting and Opensoft payroll system will be an advantage.
