Private Equity Associate
Overview
Sylvan Capital Management Pte. Ltd. is a Licensed Fund Manager under the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The company manages a Private Equity Fund that focuses on Private Equity growth capital / buyout investments in mid-market companies in the Asia Pacific Region.
Purpose/Overview of the Job
We are looking for an Associate to augment our growing team. The role will engage across all functions of the firm and will have exposure to the entire deal process from origination and practice due diligence through deal structuring and post-investment portfolio management. The ideal candidate should possess superior analytical skills, be proficient in excel financial modelling, extremely organized and is a prolific writer. Candidates should also take initative, have a positive work ethic and has a high level of maturity.
Responsibilities:
- Compile and analyse comparative performance metrics and draw conclusions in the evaluation of potential and existing investments.
- Drives investment due diligence processes.
- Contributes to investment recommendations.
- Provides oversight of internal and external reporting and analysis.
- Perform rigorous data analysis and model development using conceptual and quantitative approaches
- Works on ad hoc projects when needed.
- Development of pitch books and support in fundraising processes
- Build financial models for prospective investments, run sensitivity analyses around multiple scenarios, and manage investment underwriting process.
- Partner with Manging directors to source new investment opportunities and conduct due diligence for potential investments; manage and prioritize transaction pipeline.
- Draft investment presentations and memos and participate in investment approval process.
- Maintain internal financial model and projections for portfolio investments, analyse operating performance against expectations and provide updates to the investment team.
- Collaborate with portfolio companies’ management internally in accounting, financial reporting, treasury, legal, risk, compliance, human resources, and marketing on various management / oversight activities.
- Prepare presentations to update stakeholders on portfolio activity and key developments.
Requirements:
- At least four (4) year full-time professional private equity investment experience or other relevant experience involving a high degree of skill in data analysis, financial modelling, and investment evaluation, such as IBD of investment banking, consulting, deal advisory department at big 4 accounting firm, or similar background.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proven ability to think strategically.
- Exceptional modelling capabilities and experience drafting formal presentations (proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Resourceful, collaborative, confident, and comfortable with ambiguity.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Corporate valuation metrics and techniques.
- Proficiency in Investment concepts, terminology, styles, models, strategies, and fundamental investment factors.
- Proficiency in Korean or Japanese is not required but preferred.
- Planning, organizing and prioritizing work assignments to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced and changing environment, and in completing detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
