Job Description - APAC REWARDS LEAD

Optiver is looking for an APAC Rewards Lead based in Singapore to serve as the regional go-to person for all compensation-related advisory topics with business leaders and HRBPs. As a globally operating firm, much of our rewards strategy, policy and project work is developed on a global basis; your role is to ensure that global approach lands effectively across APAC, adapting and implementing it for local market requirements. You will lead rewards for the region while contributing to and leading global rewards projects as part of the wider Rewards team.

In the Rewards team, leadership of people analytics, people technology and global rewards is brought together and being integrated. You will work intensively with the Head of Rewards and colleagues across regions, as well as with people analytics to substantiate your improvement programmes and with HR Operations for implementation and execution across APAC.

WHO WE ARE

Optiver is a leading technology- and research-driven trading firm and global market maker. We continuously quote buy and sell prices across global financial markets, using our own capital and advanced technology to provide liquidity at scale. We are a trusted partner of 100+ exchanges across the globe. Our mission is to constantly improve the market by injecting liquidity, providing accurate pricing, increasing transparency and acting as a stabilising force no matter the market conditions.

Based in Singapore, you will join one of Optiver’s key APAC hubs. Since 2021, Singapore has been central to Optiver’s FICC trading in APAC, and the office’s strategic location positions us at the centre of the world’s key markets. Teams across trading, technology and research work closely together here, enabling fast iteration and quick responses to changing market conditions, while collaborating across APAC and globally.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As the APAC Rewards Lead at Optiver, your role is pivotal in bringing our global HR and rewards principles to life across the Asia-Pacific region. In a globally integrated organisation, the centre of gravity for rewards design sits at global level; your expertise lies in making that framework fit-for-purpose locally, translating global standards into sustainable, locally effective total rewards solutions for colleagues across APAC. You will be the regional go-to person for all compensation-related advisory topics with business leaders and HRBPs, while contributing to global rewards initiatives as part of the wider Rewards team.

In your regional rewards lead role, you can expect to be:

  • The go-to person in APAC for rewards-related advisory and improvement requests, coming directly from business leaders or via HRBPs

  • Adapting and implementing our Global Remuneration Policy (GRP) and global rewards practices for the APAC context, ensuring local market fit whilst preserving global alignment, robustness and sustainability, rather than developing parallel regional solutions

  • Feeding regional business context into globally led rewards design and strengthening our shared global solutions, collaborating closely with the Head of Rewards and Rewards colleagues in other regions

  • Training HRBPs, recruitment and other stakeholders across APAC on policy execution, compensation practices and rewards programmes

Contributing to global rewards projects, you can expect to be:

  • A valued contributor and compensation SME on global projects in rewards-related domains such as job grading, performance-related pay, and broader HR change programmes

  • Partnering with the Head of Rewards and regional colleagues to share APAC insights, support global design decisions, and drive consistent implementation across the region

  • Working with colleagues in people analytics to substantiate improvement programmes and with HR Operations for implementation and execution in APAC

WHO YOU ARE

This role sits at the intersection of regional business enablement and global rewards excellence. As a globally operating firm, we develop much of our rewards thinking centrally; you will combine deep rewards expertise with a pragmatic ability to adapt global solutions for local markets, working alongside some of the most talented and intelligent people in the business as a trusted regional lead within a globally integrated Rewards function.

In terms of skills and qualifications, we're looking for:

  • At least 7 years of experience in a Compensation & Benefits / Rewards or related role

  • Being successful in the dynamics of simultaneously leading multiple project-based engagements

  • Solution-oriented and able to engage with a variety of highly savvy and quick-thinking stakeholders

  • Able to collaborate with different colleagues and assemble capabilities and competencies in project teams

  • Providing credibility, impact and gravitas in Rewards and the broader quantitative HR domain to counterpart with senior leaders across APAC, and to collaborate effectively with the Head of Rewards and regional Rewards colleagues

  • Applying regional market knowledge across APAC jurisdictions to adapt global rewards frameworks for local use, and safeguarding flawless implementation and execution in the region

  • Being the self-starter we need to drive rewards excellence across APAC as a true business-enabler within our global framework

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Psychology, or an equivalent field

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Forward thinking, end-state in mind, persistent

Although consulting skills and reward expertise are essential, your ability to translate global rewards solutions for local contexts, navigate regional complexity, influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively within a global team will be crucial to your success in this role.

WHAT YOU’LL GET:

  • The chance to work alongside diverse, intelligent, and driven peers in a rewarding environment
  • Competitive remuneration, including an attractive bonus structure and additional leave entitlements
  • Training, mentorship and personal development opportunities
  • Gym membership plus weekly in-house chair massages
  • Daily breakfast and lunch
  • Regular social events including company trip
  • Guided relocation, a competitive relocation package and visa sponsorship where necessary.

As an intentionally flat organisation, we believe that great ideas and impact can come from everyone. We are passionate about empowering individuals and creating diverse teams that thrive. Every person at Optiver should feel included, valued and respected, because we believe our best work is done together.

Optiver encourages Singaporean nationals and Permanent Residents to apply. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is hardwired through every stage of our hiring process, we welcome requests for reasonable adjustments during the process to ensure that you can best demonstrate your abilities.
