Business Development Manager (Retail Bancassurance)

The Retail Distribution Division is responsible for the growth of multiple channels including Bancassurance, Intermediaries, Direct channels, and Partnerships. It is also responsible for delivering service excellence for all UOI customers and increasing market awareness of UOI to achieve consumer trust and recognition.

Job Purpose

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving general insurance growth through the bancassurance partnership with UOB.

The role focuses on managing bank relationships, executing sales initiatives, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring delivery of business targets across assigned segments.

Key Responsibilities

1.       Business Growth & Sales Delivery

• Drive general insurance sales through UOB channels to meet agreed targets
• Identify and execute initiatives to increase conversion, cross-sell and upsell
• Track performance metrics and take corrective action to address gaps
• Support launch and execution of campaigns to drive business momentum

2.       Partner Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for bank stakeholders
• Conduct regular business reviews to track performance and align on priorities
• Build strong working relationships across segments (e.g. loans, RM teams)
• Support training and engagement to improve product awareness and sales activity

3.       Pipeline & Opportunity Development

• Identify new revenue streams within the bank ecosystem
• Analyse customer and sales data to recommend growth strategies
• Work with internal teams to enhance product positioning and customer value proposition

4.       Opportunity Identification

• Drive implementation of agreed initiatives and ensure timely delivery
• Coordinate across underwriting, operations, and claims to resolve issues
• Monitor timelines, track progress and escalate risks where required

5.      Performance Reporting

• Prepare and track sales performance, pipeline and key KPIs
• Provide regular updates and insights to Head of Banca
• Maintain accurate reporting and ensure data integrity

6.      Governance& Compliance

• Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal compliance requirements
• Support audit reviews and ensure timely closure of actions

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing or related field
• 3–6 years’ experience in insurance, bancassurance or banking
• Proven experience in sales, partnerships or business development
• Strong stakeholder management and communications kills
• Data-driven with ability to translate insights into actions
• Results-oriented with strong execution discipline
