Our client is seeking a Business Head to be based in Indonesia, responsible for formulating and executing the company’s long-term regional strategy while overseeing day-to-day operations.
The role is primarily responsible for identifying commercial opportunities and relevant resources, drive the expansion of both existing and new businesses locally, and safeguarding the company’s interests and reputation in Indonesia.
The incumbent will also serve as a key strategic bridge between headquarters, the local market, government bodies, and business partners.
Strategic Leadership & Business Development:
Develop and implement the company's business development plans in Indonesia, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.
Identify and evaluate new trade opportunities, including commodity procurement/sales, trade node establishment, and new trade models, as well as new investment opportunities such as mining asset acquisitions, joint ventures, and greenfield project development.
Lead commercial negotiations and oversee the signing of key agreements (e.g., JV, offtake, lease agreements).
Government & External Relations Management:
Establish and maintain high-level relationships with various levels of government, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and key stakeholders in Indonesia.
Manage all government affairs, including but not limited to license applications, renewals, compliance reviews, and policy advocacy.
Represent the company at industry forums and public events to enhance the corporate brand image
Operations & Compliance Oversight:
Ensure office operations strictly comply with local laws, regulations, environmental standards, and health & safety norms in Indonesia.
Implement headquarters' risk management policies locally.
Team Building & Leadership:
Collaborate with functional departments to assist in recruiting, developing, and managing a high-performing localized team.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher, majoring in Business Administration, Law, Finance, Engineering, Languages, or related fields.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in commodity trading.
Prior experience as a local representative is preferred, along with previous exposure to working with Chinese state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
Skills:
Strategic planning, financial analysis, and commercial negotiation capabilities.
Leadership, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
Problem-solving ability.
High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and resilience.
Languages:
Must be fluent in English.
Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin will be a strong advantage to facilitate effective communication with local stakeholders and regional business partners.
