Credit Risk Officer

Role Overview

The Credit Risk Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall credit risk framework and credit portfolio of the bank . This role acts as a key risk control function for the branch, ensuring that all lending activities, credit approvals, portfolio monitoring, and risk management practices are conducted in line with the bank’s internal policies, Singapore regulatory requirements, and HQ standards.

The role is highly senior and requires strong experience in corporate, institutional, and commercial credit risk. The Credit Risk Officer is expected to provide independent risk assessment, challenge business proposals where necessary, support sound credit decision-making, and ensure the branch maintains a balanced and compliant credit portfolio.

Job Description

• Management and Leadership: Oversee the overall risk management of all functions in the covering region.
• Lead the development of risk appetite, risk tolerance, and limit-setting and ensure consistent and compliant with internal policies, local and HQ's regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the credit approval and review processes for loans, ensuring they meet the bank’s risk management standards and compliance requirements.
• Monitor the performance and quality of the credit portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and external regulations.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the branch manager or HQ, which may include special projects or initiatives to support the branch's overall objectives.
• Mentor junior analysts or officers.

Qualification

• Minimum 15 years of experience in credit risk evaluation, portfolio monitoring, corporate/institutional/commercial lending, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of financial modelling, analytical skills, credit principles and banking practices, regulatory requirements, rating mechanisms, and risk management.
• Excellent analytical skills, including evaluating financial statements and credit reports.
• Able to provide thoughtful and balanced risk perspectives to business lines.
• Good communication and organization skills.
• Proficiency in MS office application.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English, with strong proficiency in Chinese for effective communication with colleagues in HQ
