About the company:
Our client is a Single-Family Office (SFO) and was founded in 2020 in The Netherlands. It has subsidiaries in Switzerland, Kenya and Singapore. Primary goal is to manage, maintain and grow assets for our client. The assets are and will be invested in public markets (primarily equities), private and venture equity funds, direct stakes in private companies and real estate.
For the office in Singapore, they are looking for an (junior) Investment Analyst. The role of this Investment Analyst is to help map, analyze, support and advise on existing and new investments on the public markets. The role can be expanded to include analytical work for our foreign subsidiaries in The Netherlands, Switzerland or Kenya.
The Investment Analysts are important in the investment process and play a critical role in the successful operation of the company.
Job Description:
The Investment Analyst we are looking for will champion the investments in public markets that are located in Singapore. He/she will be part of the Public Markets Team that is based in the Netherlands. The analyst in Singapore will be specifically focused on Asian markets but also needs to have / develop a view on global stocks markets. As the office needs to invest at least 10% of the assets in Singapore, knowledge of the local stock market is preferred.
Our investment strategy is based on a top-down analysis. We start with a clear view on macro-economic trends, define preferred sectors and regions and finally decide which companies to invest in (or make use of ETF’s or Mutual Funds). Our Investment Analyst will specifically follow this strategy for the Asian markets (Singapore, China, India, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Indonesia). You will perform country and company analyses. Moreover, you will develop a view on local currencies and interest rates.
We expect the Investment Analyst to collect and interpret data, such as company financial statements and sector / thematic trends. You must be able to perform an in-depth analysis of an individual company (valuation, MOAT-analysis, SWOT-analysis) and present this to your colleagues.
We expect from our new Investment Analyst to work on a broad scope of topics, but at the same time, also to create a focus on one or two specific niches. The latter is in order to build long term expertise within our office. We would love to hear about your specific areas of expertise / interests.
You will report to the Investment Manager in Singapore, but you are definitely part of the Public Markets team. The team will discuss and weigh insights against one another. Collaboration is therefore a key part of the job, as well as communication through presentations and information sharing amongst peers. There will be direct interaction of the Investment Analyst with fund managers and management of invested companies.

Investment Strategy: develop a clear view on the attractiveness of the mentioned Asian countries and create a focus list of attractive companies.
Sourcing: source attractive public investments that fit our mandate and risk/return profile. You must develop and maintain relationships with brokers to gather in-depth information. Moreover, you need to build a network that serves us to acquire a thorough view on the Asian financial markets.
Due Diligence: execute a thorough due diligence on prospective investments, including legal, financial, and operational aspects, to assess risks and opportunities. KYC will also be part of your responsibilities.
Investment Cases: prepare investment cases and presentations for internal stakeholders and the investment committee, summarizing key findings, investment thesis, and recommendations. This will include complex financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, including discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, comparable company analysis (CCA), and other valuation methodologies.
Portfolio Monitoring / Execution: you must be able to execute the trades and this requires precision and great attention to detail.
Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes relevant to the investment portfolio.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with external brokers, investment partners, and industry experts to source and evaluate investment opportunities.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members such as legal, finance, and operations, to ensure smooth execution and management of investments.
Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of best practices in investment management, attend relevant conferences, and pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Positioning in the organization:
The Investment Analyst reports to the Family Office Director Singapore.
Education:
A Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field is a minimum requirement. CFA certification (or willingness to start CFA) is a plus as well as a degrees in accounting, statistics, or physical science.
We do require 0-3 years of practical experience, and positive references.
Skills:
You’ve an analytical and curious mind with a keen sense of out-of-the-box thinking. The ability to detect trends early, and using niche expertise to find ways to capitalize on them, is what creates value for company. You must have a big sense of responsibility, be a self-starter and finally be loyal and utmost trustworthy.
Prior experience in public markets, private equity, venture capital, or corporate finance is preferred.
Great attention to detail and the ability to make sound judgment calls under time pressure are also important skills.
