Job Description - R0441255 APAC Financing – Associate

Details of the Division and Team:

APAC Financing is seeking an Associate Candidate to assist in arranging, underwriting, structuring, and executing complex structured finance transactions including senior, stretched-senior, and unitranche loans, mezzanine and subordinate financings, often involving a cross-border or multi-jurisdictional element.  APAC Financing covers a broad range of business areas, sectors, and strategies including sponsor-driven corporate LBOs, leveraged lending, commercial real estate (all asset classes, all stages of development), renewables, and special situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrange, underwrite, structure and execute transactions as a key member of the deal team;

  • Analyze potential transactions from a credit and risk perspective, including performing full and detailed corporate and asset valuations and conducting a comprehensive, thorough due diligence review;

  • Perform sophisticated cashflow modelling and sensitivity analyses, as well as analyzing expected returns and performance metrics;

  • Engage in client negotiations and assist the documentation process, including liaising with internal and external legal counsel, clients, and other key external parties;

  • Explain the credit to key internal stakeholders, and obtain necessary internal approvals;

  • Co-work closely with the institutional and regional sales coverage teams regarding loan syndications and derisking activities; and

  • Post-closing, continue to monitor the position’s performance and liaise with loan servicers, agents, and asset managers as required.

Your skills and experience:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in asset-backed valuations and underwriting, corporate valuations, recourse and non-recourse loan structuring and origination and

  • Minimum 3 years experience in the leveraged loan, LBO, and M&A areas;

  • Fluency in English and Japanese to work with clients in South Asia and Japan

  • Prior working knowledge of accounting, including analysis of financial statements;

  • A strong background in identifying, understanding, and underwriting risk;

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills for such key tasks as preparing investment committee memorandums, internal reporting, and client presentations.

  • Excellent computer literacy and significant experience using MS Office, particularly Excel;

  • Team player with strong mentality and motivation to contribute
