Software Engineering Manager

Our client, a leading asset management firm, is hiring an Engineering Manager to sit at the intersection of strategy and execution the critical link between their Head of Engineering and Principal Engineers/Leads.

This role suits someone equally comfortable managing business stakeholders and the codebase, you will need to be confident enough to engage directly with the business and gather requirements, credible enough to earn the respect of senior engineers driving technical delivery.

What you'll do:

• Own the translation layer between business needs and technical execution

• Partner closely with the Head of Engineering to shape how projects get delivered

• Provide technical oversight in architecture and code reviews (not heavily hands-on — think 10-20% coding, stepping in when needed)

• Lead and mentor a team of 5-6 engineers, supporting their growth while keeping delivery on track

• Are comfortable operating without being the most hands-on coder in the room

• Ideally have experience in asset management, financial services, or a related regulated environment
