Treasury Specialist/ Accountant

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of treasury operations relating to paper hedging trades, settlements, and clearing account management. The role ensures proper confirmation, settlement, and hedge accounting of FX and commodity derivative transactions, while supporting month-end closing and year-end audit activities.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Confirmation & Settlement

• Verify and confirm trades in Energy Trade Risk Management (ETRM) system against emails/contracts, monitor return of signed contracts, and resolve discrepancies with counterparties.
• Prepare settlement instructions for FX forwards/commodity derivatives, monitor clearing account balances, and alert Treasury on low funds or margin calls to ensure timely top-ups.
• Extract trades for monthly hedge accounting schedules and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completenes

Year-end Audit & Confirmation

• Retrieve monthly mark-to-market statements to validate open positions and assist with audit confirmation requests, liaising with banks/counterparties for timely returns.
• Process audit fee payments promptly and ensure confirmations reach external auditors before deadlines.

Digital Token Administration

• Maintain and administer digital token access for online banking system users.

Process Improvement & Projects

• Participate in system upgrades, UAT testing, and other automation initiatives within the settlement function.

Cash Flow Management (Back-Up Coverage)

• Act as back-up for cash flow monitoring, payment processing and other reporting matters during staff leave.

• Diploma/Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Relevant experience in treasury operations, trade confirmation, or settlement.
• Knowledge of FX forwards, commodity derivatives, hedge accounting, and treasury processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with trade capture/treasury systems an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and tight deadlines, with high attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.
• Problem-solving mindset with resilience to manage operational challenges in a fast-paced trading/energy environment.
