Key Responsibilities

• Assist solicitors in the preparation of legal documents, correspondence, and court submissions across family law, civil and commercial litigation, corporate law, estate planning, criminal defence, and Syariah/Muslim family law
• Conduct legal research and summarise findings for supervising solicitors
• Liaise with clients, courts, government agencies, and other external parties as directed
• Manage and organise case files, ensuring all documentation is properly filed and up to date
• Draft letters, forms, and routine legal documents under solicitor supervision
• Communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients, providing clear and professional assistance in both English and Chinese
• Support the preparation of briefs, affidavits, and other litigation documents
• Assist with administrative and operational tasks as required by the practice

Requirements

Language Requirement: Candidates must be proficient in both written and spoken Mandarin Chinese. A significant portion of our client base communicates primarily in Mandarin, and the successful candidate will be expected to engage directly with Chinese-speaking clients on a regular basis. Applications from candidates without this proficiency will not be progressed.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma or degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience in a legal environment
• Prior experience as a paralegal, legal secretary, or legal executive is preferred but not essential for candidates with relevant academic qualifications
• Proficiency in written and spoken English, in addition to the mandatory Mandarin Chinese requirement
• Sound organisational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
• Proficiency in standard office software including Microsoft Word and Excel
• A professional and empathetic manner when dealing with clients

Additional language proficiency in Tamil or Malay is an advantage.
