Assistant Construction Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership & Equipment Management

  • Lead the bridge launching team (Engineers, Superintendents, Riggers) in daily SBG launching operations using launching girders and segment lifters.

  • Manage the assembly, load testing, operation, and maintenance of specialized bridge construction equipment.

  • Organize and allocate plant, machinery, and resources required for segment erection.

• Technical Planning & Engineering Coordination

  • Plan and execute the precast segmental bridge erection sequence in strict accordance with design intent and project specifications.

  • Develop lifting plans, kinematics, and engineering drawings complying with local codes of practice and engineering standards.

  • Coordinate directly with temporary works consultants on design erection sequences and resolve site technical matters with supervision consultants.

  • Oversee critical structural works, including post-tensioning operations and bearing installations, ensuring compliance with quality plans and workmanship specifications.

• Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Liaise with clients, supervision consultants, and relevant authorities on operational matters.

  • Track construction progress, prepare regular reports, and present updates to the Project Manager.

• Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Enforce adherence to workplace safety regulations and statutory requirements across all launching and lifting activities.

  • Maintain strict quality control in accordance with project drawings and material specifications.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering recognized by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) Singapore.

• Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years dedicated to viaduct construction—specifically precast segmental bridges.

  • Proven hands-on experience executing various segmental bridge construction methodologies, including Span-by-Span, Balanced Cantilever, and Trestle methods.

• Technical Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of temporary works design, structural kinematics, and heavy lifting operations.

  • Proficiency in post-tensioning systems, bearing installation, and load-testing procedures for launching equipment.

• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills to interface effectively with consultants, authorities, and site crews.
