Assistant Transport Manager

About the role

Hong Aik Engineering Pte. Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Transport Manager to join our team on a full-time basis in the West Region. This is a pivotal role within our construction operations, responsible for supporting the efficient movement of materials, equipment and personnel across our project sites. As Assistant Transport Manager, you will work closely with our senior management to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation solutions that support our construction projects' schedules and objectives. Your contributions will be essential to maintaining our operational excellence and project delivery standards.

Key responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and schedule vehicle movements and deliveries to ensure projects receive materials and equipment on time

2. Maintain accurate records of fleet utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance schedules and transportation costs

3. Monitor driver performance, compliance with safety regulations and adherence to company policies

4. Liaise with project managers and site supervisors to understand transportation requirements and priorities

5. Assist in vehicle maintenance scheduling and coordinate repairs with service providers

6. Support route planning and optimization to minimize costs and improve efficiency

7. Prepare regular reports on transportation metrics, costs and performance indicators

8. Ensure compliance with traffic regulations, weight limits and other legal requirements for commercial vehicles

9. Assist in managing transportation budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities

10. Support driver training and induction programme related to safety and operational procedures

What we're looking for:

1. Diploma or equivalent qualification in logistics, transport management or a related field

2. 2-4 years of experience in transport management, fleet coordination or a similar role within the construction or industrial sector

3. Strong knowledge of vehicle operations, maintenance requirements and transport logistics

4. Proficiency with transport management software and Microsoft Office applications

5. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks

6. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with drivers, site personnel and management

7. Sound understanding of traffic regulations, vehicle safety standards and workplace safety requirements

8. Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions under pressure

9. Valid driving licence and clean driving record

10. Experience with construction project timelines and coordination would be advantageous

Monday to Fridays

6.30am to 3.30pm

Saturdays

6.30am to 10.30am
