Job Description - BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM) TECHNICIAN

Job Description

• Develop, update, and maintain accurate BIM models, construction drawings, shop drawings, and as-built drawings in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and applicable standards.

• Prepare and coordinate 2D drawings,3D models, schedules, and technical documentation required for project execution, submission, and construction purposes.

• Create, modify, and manage BIM models using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and other relevant BIM software to support project delivery.

• Coordinate and integrate BIM models across multiple disciplines, including architectural, structural, M&E, and other project stakeholders, to ensure consistency and accuracy of design information.

• Conduct model reviews, clash detection, and constructability assessments to identify and resolve design conflicts, discrepancies, and coordination issues in a timely manner.

• Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate effective BIM coordination and project implementation.

• Ensure BIM models, drawings, and documentation comply with project specifications, company standards, authority requirements, and relevant industry regulations.

• Prepare and maintain project-related BIM documentation, model registers, drawing logs, revision records, and other technical records throughout the project lifecycle.

• Support the submission of drawings, models, and technical documents to clients, consultants, and relevant authorities as required.

• Participate in project coordination meetings, technical discussions, design reviews, and site meetings to provide BIM-related support and solutions.

• Assist project teams in developing BIM execution plans, modelling standards, workflows, and best practices to improve project efficiency and quality.

• Monitor project progress and ensure BIM deliverables are completed accurately and within established project timelines.

• Review and verify BIM models and drawings produced by team members to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards.

• Perform site visits and inspections when required to verify construction progress, gather site information, and ensure BIM models accurately reflect site conditions.

• Support project teams in resolving technical, modelling, and coordination issues arising during design, construction, and project completion stages.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication, coordination, and information exchange throughout the project lifecycle.

• Maintain confidentiality of project information and ensure proper management of project data and digital records.

• Keep abreast of industry developments, BIM technologies, software updates, and best practices to enhance modelling capabilities and project delivery.

• Provide technical guidance and support to junior BIM modellers, drafters, or project team members when required.

• Undertake any other duties and responsibilities assigned by management to support project execution and operations.

Requirements

• At least Diploma in Industrial Design, Engineering, Architecture, Building Services, Construction Technology, or other related disciplines.

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in BIM modelling, drafting, or technical design work.

• Proficient in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.

• Experience in preparing construction drawings, shop drawings, and BIM documentation.

• Familiar with BIM coordination processes and model management.

• Good understanding of construction, engineering, architectural, or industrial design principles.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Able to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.

• Good communication and coordination skills.

• Experience working on building, infrastructure, industrial, or engineering projects.

• Knowledge of Navisworks, BIM 360, or other BIM-related software will be an advantage.

• Familiarity with Singapore BIM standards and project submission requirements will be preferred.

• Able to attend project coordination calls, meetings, or discussions outside normal working hours, when required by project schedules.

• Willing to provide technical support and respond to urgent project matters after office hours when necessary.

• Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and work under tight deadlines.

• Capable of handling a high volume of BIM modelling, drawing revisions, and coordination tasks with minimal supervision.

• Willing to perform site visits and attend project coordination meetings as required.

• Willing to undertake additional responsibilities assigned by management to support project delivery and business operations.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing project priorities and timelines.

• Experience in preparing, reviewing, and coordinating large-scale BIM models for multiple disciplines will be an added advantage.
