Job Description - Business Development Executive (Solar & Battery Energy Storage System)
Job Summary:
The Business Development Executive is responsible for driving the Company's commercial growth by identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and delivering tailored clean energy solutions across the commercial and industrial sectors. The role focuses on expanding the adoption of Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and other renewable energy solutions by understanding customers' operational and energy requirements and translating them into commercially viable solutions.
Working closely with the engineering and project delivery teams, the Business Development Executive will manage the entire sales process from prospecting and solution development through commercial negotiations, contract execution, and project handover. The successful candidate should possess strong commercial acumen, excellent relationship management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate both the technical and financial value of renewable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Development and Sales
Develop and execute business development strategies to expand the Company's portfolio of Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and other clean energy solutions.
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the commercial and industrial sectors, including property developers, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and institutional clients.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, energy retailers, and strategic partners to generate long-term business opportunities.
Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and qualification through proposal development, contract negotiation, and project handover.
Achieve individual sales targets while maintaining a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.
2. Customer Engagement and Solution Development
Understand customers' operational, financial, and energy requirements to develop tailored renewable energy solutions.
Work closely with the engineering team to prepare technical and commercial proposals that address customer objectives and comply with regulatory requirements.
Present business cases, financial analyses, energy savings, and return-on-investment assessments to customers.
Coordinate site visits and facilitate technical discussions between customers and internal engineering teams where required.
3. Commercial Management
Prepare and deliver professional proposals, quotations, and presentations aligned with customer requirements.
Lead commercial discussions and negotiate pricing, contract terms, and project scope to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Maintain accurate sales forecasts, opportunity pipelines, and customer records using the Company's CRM system.
Monitor project progress throughout the sales process to ensure timely contract execution and customer satisfaction.
4. Market Development and Industry Engagement
Monitor developments in the renewable energy, electricity, and sustainability sectors to identify emerging market opportunities.
Develop strategic relationships with consultants, developers, facility managers, EPC contractors, energy retailers, and other industry stakeholders.
Represent the Company at industry conferences, exhibitions, networking events, and customer engagements to strengthen market presence and generate new business opportunities.
Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support the Company's commercial strategy and business development initiatives.
5. Customer Relationship Management
Build long-term relationships with customers by providing professional advice and responsive support throughout the sales journey.
Identify opportunities for repeat business, cross-selling, and upselling additional renewable energy solutions.
Ensure a seamless transition from project award to implementation by coordinating closely with the engineering and project delivery teams.
Support post-project customer engagement to strengthen client relationships and encourage future business opportunities.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Renewable Energy, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or commercial roles, preferably within the renewable energy, engineering, utilities, construction, or related industries.
Demonstrated ability to develop new business opportunities and manage customer relationships within a B2B environment.
Experience in Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), electrical engineering, or energy-related industries will be an advantage.
Strong understanding of consultative selling and solution-based business development.

Basic understanding of Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), or renewable energy technologies is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience using CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot) will be an advantage.
Ability to understand technical proposals and financial models with support from internal technical teams.

Knowledge of Singapore's renewable energy market, electricity industry, and sustainability initiatives.
