Job Summary

A Cargo Handler is responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, moving, and securing cargo safely and efficiently. The role involves handling shipments, operating material handling equipment, and ensuring all cargo is processed according to company procedures and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload cargo from trucks, containers, and warehouses.
• Sort, inspect, and arrange cargo according to delivery schedules.
• Ensure cargo is properly packed, labelled, and secured to prevent damage.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other material handling equipment (where licensed and authorized).
• Verify cargo quantities against delivery orders, packing lists, or shipping documents.
• Report damaged, missing, or incorrect cargo to the supervisor immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and cargo handling areas.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with inventory counts and stock movements when required.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum secondary school education preferred.
• Previous experience in cargo handling, warehouse operations, logistics, or construction is an advantage.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy items.
• Able to work outdoors, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Forklift licence (preferred, if applicable).
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Responsible, punctual, and safety-conscious.

Working Conditions

• Work in warehouses, cargo terminals, ports, or construction sites.
• May involve shift work and overtime.
• Requires prolonged standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, and working in varying weather conditions.
