Job Description - Civil and Structural Design Engineer
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead and manage civil engineering projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from planning, design coordination, construction, completion, and final account settlement.
Review and coordinate geotechnical investigation reports, engineering drawings, design submissions, and technical specifications.
Prepare, review, and approve construction method statements, technical proposals, and construction organization plans.
Develop and optimize construction methodologies to improve productivity, reduce rework, and achieve cost savings.
Coordinate with developers, consultants, architects, structural engineers, M&E engineers, subcontractors, and relevant authorities to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
Monitor project quality, construction progress, safety performance, and productivity throughout project execution.
Conduct site inspections, material approvals, concealed work inspections, and quality acceptance processes.
Review and evaluate shop drawings, technical submissions, and engineering calculations.
Manage design changes, engineering variations, technical queries (RFIs), and site instructions during construction.
Prepare and evaluate variation orders, engineering claims, quantity calculations, and cost implications arising from design modifications.
Review engineering quantities, reinforcement schedules, concrete quantities, and material procurement requirements.
Coordinate project planning, construction sequencing, temporary works, and site logistics.
Participate in tender preparation, technical evaluation of bids, and contract administration.
Support project teams in achieving project delivery milestones, quality objectives, and cost control targets.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements, statutory regulations, and company quality management procedures.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, structural engineering, or building construction.
Proven experience in managing high-rise residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Experience working with developers, consultants, or main contractors.
Strong understanding of construction methodologies, structural engineering principles, and project execution.
Experience in reviewing engineering drawings, construction method statements, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with construction planning, project scheduling, and engineering coordination.
Good understanding of engineering cost control and construction budgeting.
Ability to work independently while leading multidisciplinary project teams.
Skill Requirements
Proficient in the use of engineering software applications and computer systems for design and analysis.
Proficient in STAAD, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Possess good communication and technical skills.
Strong leadership qualities and analytical and reasoning abilities.
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common technical information, contract reports and instructions.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
