Mechanical Supervisor

Job Description

Supervise the mechanical crew across shifts, allocating manpower and coordinating daily maintenance tasks to ensure minimal TBM downtime.

Independently manage and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance of TBM mechanical systems, including hydraulics, thrust rams, erectors, screw conveyors, belt conveyors, and main drives.

Oversee the complete lifecycle of TBM mechanical operations, including the installation, commissioning, and dismantling of machines on-site.

Perform targeted refurbishment and maintenance of critical TBM components, such as cutter heads, tail skins (including wire brush fixing), and all sizes of hoses used for main drives and umbilicals.

Support the installation and upkeep of temporary services, including pumps, dewatering systems, compressed air, ventilation, and pipework.

Enforce rigorous Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and safe systems of work for all mechanical interventions.

Assist the M&E Engineer during cutterhead interventions, hyperbaric works, and major maintenance planning.

Ensure strict compliance with MOM, BCA, and LTA safety requirements, actively intervening on any unsafe conditions.

Requirements

Must possess a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Education, or an equivalent mechanical trade qualification.

Requires a minimum of eight (8) years of direct experience in tunnel-related projects

Note: Candidates demonstrating 15 or more years of extensive experience in TBM mechanical operation and maintenance will be given strong preference.

Proven, hands-on track record working with multiple TBM types, specifically Slurry machines and Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) machines. Prior operational experience with Hard Rock TBMs is an added advantage.

Direct technical experience with major TBM manufacturers such as CRCHI, Herrenknecht (HK), and Robbins is highly preferred.

Advanced proficiency in TBM hydraulic systems, heavy-duty pumps (grout and grease pumps), and on-site troubleshooting.
Must be familiar with Singapore’s safety regulatory framework (MOM, BCA, LTA) and standard LOTO procedures.
