MECHANICAL SUPERVISOR

Responsibilities and Duties

• Supervise the daily activities of assigned personnel in the Mechanical Unit.
• Plan work priorities, allocate manpower, equipment and tools, and ensure all assigned work is completed according to the approved schedule and work permit requirements.
• Supervise shutdown activities, planned maintenance and repair works for various mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot major mechanical problems, diagnose faults and arrange the necessary repair works.
• Develop, implement and update preventive maintenance schedules for rotating and static equipment.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with operational requirements.
• Review proposed equipment modifications and projects, assess their technical feasibility and recommend suitable materials, equipment and spare parts.
• Monitor the performance and condition of machinery and equipment, and recommend improvements to enhance safety, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Investigate equipment failures and provide recommendations to the maintenance team to prevent repeated breakdowns.
• Assist the Maintenance Superintendent and Mechanical Engineer in determining spare-parts requirements, stock levels and re-order quantities.
• Coordinate with the procurement, logistics and maintenance teams to ensure the timely delivery and availability of mechanical spare parts, equipment and materials.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and follow up with the relevant departments and suppliers until the required items are received.
• Coordinate with Mechanical Engineers, contractors and equipment vendors for technical and troubleshooting support.
• Prepare reports and documentation for major repairs, equipment overhauls and maintenance activities.
• Prepare proper handover reports and brief the incoming supervisor on outstanding matters, major events and required follow-up actions.
• Monitor the performance, attendance, conduct and productivity of assigned workers.
• Provide guidance and on-the-job training to junior supervisors, technicians and workers.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure that workers understand the work procedures, risk assessments and safety requirements.
• Ensure strict compliance with Workplace Safety and Health requirements, MOM regulations, Company policies and project-site rules.
• Immediately report any accident, unsafe condition, equipment damage or serious operational issue to Management.
• Maintain proper records of maintenance work, manpower deployment, equipment usage, spare parts and completed work.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent, Project Manager or Management.

Working Requirements

• Must be willing to work day or night shifts, including rotating shifts, according to operational requirements.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends and public holidays when required.
• Must be prepared to attend emergency breakdowns and urgent call-outs outside normal working hours.
• May be required to work extended hours during shutdowns, critical maintenance works or project emergencies.
• Must be willing to work at different project sites, industrial plants, offshore facilities or other locations assigned by the Company.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in hot, dusty, noisy and physically demanding environments.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet tight maintenance and project deadlines.
• Must be willing to stay on-site or at Company-arranged accommodation when operationally required.
• Must comply with all safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment at all times.
