Our client is an established and innovative player in the maritime sector, specializing in high-performance, purpose-built vessels for public service and government agencies globally. They are recognized for delivering mission-critical craft including rescue and firefighting vessels built to rigorous international safety standards.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Principal Naval Architect or Marine Engineer. In this full-time role, you will drive the development, adaptation, and modification of high-stakes specialized vessels ranging from 6 to 15 meters. These crafts are custom-engineered for vital public services, including law enforcement, maritime rescue, and firefighting agencies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams as well as premier external naval architects and international design consultancies to bring cutting-edge maritime platforms to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vessel Design & Customization: Contribute to the full-lifecycle design of new 6–15 meter professional vessels. Re-engineer and adapt existing platforms to meet unique, high-performance operational requirements and seamlessly integrate mission-specific tactical equipment.
  • Engineering & Structural Analysis: Perform comprehensive structural analysis, scantling calculations (utilizing HullScant or similar tools), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to guarantee structural integrity.
  • Hydrodynamics & Compliance: Utilize Maxsurf or equivalent naval architecture software for hydrodynamic and performance modeling. Ensure all designs strictly adhere to international regulatory frameworks, specifically ISO 12215 (structures) and ISO 12217 (stability).
  • Technical Documentation & 3D Modeling: Build and manage detailed 3D CAD models of vessels and complex components. Produce precise engineering drawings for production pipelines, certification bodies, and prototyping/testing phases.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Interface directly with internal production, sales, and project management teams, and participate in technical reviews with external partners and maritime classification organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a strictly related technical field.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, or CATIA).
  • Hands-on experience with specialized maritime analysis tools (e.g., HullScant, Maxsurf) and FEA software.
  • Solid grasp of international marine design standards (ISO 12215, ISO 12217).
  • Experience: Proven track record in small craft or boat design (ideally 6–15 meters). Experience developing specialized, mission-oriented, or commercial vessels is highly advantageous.
  • Languages: Full professional fluency in English is required. Professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a valued asset but not mandatory.
  • Key Attributes: Exceptional analytical acumen, a strong eye for safety and regulatory compliance, and the ability to operate autonomously within a multidisciplinary, international framework.

What’s on Offer

  • The chance to work on highly impactful, innovative vessel projects that support global public safety and rescue operations.
  • Regular exposure to international design agencies and elite naval architecture partners.
  • A technically rigorous, supportive, and forward-thinking engineering culture.
