Job Description - Purchaser

Responsibilities

  • Research and assess potential suppliers of construction materials, equipment, and services based on price, quality, reliability, and technical support to ensure optimal sourcing decisions
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure favorable procurement agreements aligned with project goals
  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly and maintain an up-to-date supplier database to support reliable procurement operations
  • Align procurement activities with project timelines and budgets to ensure timely availability of materials and cost control
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders in compliance with company policies to formalize procurement commitments
  • Track orders and manage inventory levels proactively to anticipate and meet project material needs
  • Resolve discrepancies related to deliveries, quality, or invoices by collaborating with suppliers to maintain supply chain integrity
  • Maintain accurate procurement, shipping records, purchase orders, and supplier agreements to ensure documentation compliance
  • Support project teams in budget control and cost monitoring by providing procurement data and insights
  • Prepare procurement summaries, cost comparisons, logistics reports, and other purchasing-related reports to inform management decisions
  • Verify that materials and equipment comply with project specifications and safety standards to uphold quality and safety requirements
  • Check and validate invoices and purchase documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with contracts
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to understand procurement and logistics needs and deliver timely solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in vendor selection and project planning to support project success

Requirements

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Building Construction Industry
  • Knowledge of materials, machinery, and equipment used in the construction sector
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and lead within project environments
