Job Description - Quantity Surveyor

Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing project costs, preparing quotations and claims, monitoring budgets, and ensuring all contractual and financial aspects of projects are properly handled. The role includes cost estimation, tender preparation, subcontractor coordination, and project cost control to ensure projects are completed within budget and in accordance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions
  • Review tender documents, drawings, and contract specifications
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, and variations
  • Prepare progress claims, payment certificates, and final accounts
  • Evaluate subcontractor quotations and manage subcontractor claims
  • Track material usage and project expenditures
  • Conduct site measurements and valuation works when required
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors on commercial matters
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of project records and contracts
  • Assist in contract administration and dispute resolution matters
  • Prepare cost reports and provide regular updates to management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and industry regulations

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, or related field
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant working experience preferred
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, costing, and tender procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software
  • Good negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and cost control awareness

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in construction, marine, engineering, or oil & gas industry
  • Familiar with Singapore construction practices and regulations
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and contract documents
