Job Description - Site Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and supervising daily site activities for demolition, earthworks, excavation, reinstatement, and related civil engineering works.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, method statements, and work requirements before commencement of site activities.
  • Coordinate with consultants, Professional Engineers, clients, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant authorities on technical and site matters.
  • Prepare and submit shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, inspection requests, permits, and other project documentation for approval.
  • Monitor site progress and ensure works are carried out according to the approved programme, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, machinery, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities to maintain smooth site operations.
  • Supervise demolition, excavation, backfilling, hardcore laying, concrete works, drainage works, turfing, and other reinstatement activities where applicable.
  • Ensure site works are executed safely and in accordance with approved risk assessments, safe work procedures, method statements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, quality, safety, environmental compliance, and site housekeeping.
  • Identify and resolve technical, construction, and coordination issues promptly to prevent delays or disruption to the works.
  • Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, authorities, and other relevant parties.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure their works comply with project requirements, quality standards, and work schedules.
  • Maintain proper site records, including daily reports, progress photographs, inspection records, machinery records, delivery orders, and work completion documentation.
  • Assist in preparing progress reports, claims, variation records, and supporting documents for completed works.
  • Attend site meetings and provide updates on work progress, technical issues, safety matters, and outstanding items.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Project Manager or management.

Job Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Building, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant site experience in the Singapore construction industry.
  • Experience in demolition, earthworks, excavation, reinstatement, structural works, or civil engineering projects will be an advantage.
  • Able to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Good knowledge of site operations, construction sequencing, safety requirements, and quality control.
  • Able to coordinate and manage subcontractors, workers, machinery operators, and suppliers independently.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced site environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of AutoCAD or other relevant construction software will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Singapore construction regulations, workplace safety requirements, and authority submission procedures will be beneficial.
