UPS Service Engineer

Our client is a contractor in the construction industry and they have a few openings for the UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply), Service Engineer, Project Scheme position

It's a 3-year contract position

This is a hybrid project and field service role focused on ensuring the absolute reliability of critical backup power systems. You will manage the entire lifecycle of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) deployments—from initial project management and 3-phase installation to 24/7 emergency troubleshooting, component overhauls, and client technical support.

Responsibilities

1. Project Management & 3-Phase Installation

• Lead Deployments: Manage UPS installation and upgrade projects from start to finish based on client specs.

• Commissioning: Install, test, and commission 1 & 3-Phase UPS systems, battery banks, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Static Transfer Switches (STS), Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), and bypass panels.

• Blueprint Translation: Read and accurately interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) to guide installations and maintenance.

2. Maintenance, Diagnostics & Overhauls

• Preventive Care: Perform routine servicing to maximize system uptime and prevent unexpected blackouts.

• Advanced Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose and isolate faults within complex, high-voltage electrical setups and UPS hardware.

• System Overhauls: Execute deep physical repairs and overhauls on faulty UPS units to restore them to peak performance.

3. Client & On-Site Operations

• Technical Advisory: Provide clients with clear technical explanations and prepare professional cost quotations.

• 24/7 Emergency Standby: Respond to urgent on-site service calls outside regular hours to maintain continuous power for critical infrastructure.

Requirements

Technical Experience & Skills

• Mandatory Experience: Proven, hands-on experience in UPS installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting is strictly required.

• Electrical Strength: Must be highly proficient in 3-Phase electrical systems and high-current industrial power distribution.

Qualifications & Education

• Academic: ITE Certification, Polytechnic Diploma, or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering.

• Mobility Bonus: A Class 3 Driving License is highly preferred. (Essential for driving the company service vehicle/van loaded with tools and parts to site during 24/7 emergency call-outs).
