Workplace Safety and health Officer for Building & Construction Specific

Job Summary

You will support the Safety Manager to ensure compliance with statutory safety, health, and environmental standards on construction projects, driving risk management and incident investigations to maintain a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Safety Manager in managing safety, health, environmental, and welfare compliance to meet statutory and aerodrome safety standards
• Implement health, safety, and environmental controls to ensure all construction activities follow established procedures and instructions
• Coordinate with stakeholders, authorities, agencies, and consultants to facilitate safety compliance and communication
• Prepare and submit daily situation reports to track safety performance and site conditions
• Execute risk assessments and enforce safe working procedures on-site to mitigate hazards
• Conduct daily inspections of health, safety, and environmental conditions, document findings, and coordinate corrective actions with the Project Safety Team and Contractors
• Investigate all accidents and near-miss incidents, document findings accurately on relevant forms, and recommend preventive measures
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and comply with all safety protocols and procedures
• Implement and monitor safety measures in alignment with the Workplace Health and Safety Act and the Safety Management System
• Identify training and certification needs to ensure compliance with legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, and H.S.E. guidance

Required competencies and certifications

• Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer with MOM
• Experience developing Risk Management Implementation Plans (bizSAFE Level 2) or equivalent

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, including at least 2 years with a developer or main contractor
