You will primarily be taking care of our new and existing customers’ needs, which encompasses the entire supply chain from purchasing, marketing, and customer service, to arranging logistics. Do not be alarmed by the scope; it is always a team effort. We assist each other to give our customers a worthwhile experience.

Although Otani Trading is over 100 years old, our Singapore operation is essentially a start-up. We are therefore looking for candidates who wish to create their own career paths while starting a new business, rather than follow a rigid job description with a constrained scope.

Experience in international trade or logistics is a plus, but not a requirement. Enthusiasm and an interest in creating something new are far more important and welcome.

Nearly everybody at Otani’s flower division started without any kind of flower or trading background. There is no need for you to have any knowledge about flowers or a strong interest in flowers. Everything needed to perform your role can be learned on the job, and with any luck, you will also learn to love the international flower trade even if you can barely tell Carnations from Roses right now.

If you are looking to do something different with a wide range of responsibilities dealing with over 50 countries around the world within a dynamic, global team, while leveraging the latest Web technologies and IT Solutions, this position might be for you. Unlike the image of flowers might suggest, flower trading is not just for ladies. Gents are very welcome too!

We are also looking for motivated candidates who wish to leverage the Singapore government's Overseas Markets Immersion Programme (OMIP). Eligible candidates will undergo a 9-month practical training stint at our overseas offices (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, UAE, and Japan), with the long-term career path of stepping up to a management role in our Marketing & Sales division. (Please note: The OMIP is applicable only to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents.)

Responsibilities

• Foster and maintain close networks with potential and existing customers/suppliers/supply chain partners

• Order management

• Issue invoices and support on quotations/claims

• Manage import/export documentation

• Coordinate logistical arrangement

• Work with our internal IT team to improve systems

• Other ad-hoc supply chain related duties

Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in management, marketing, accounting, or supply chain related disciplines

• Good communication skills (Fluent in written and spoken English, ability to speak another language is an advantage)

• Ability to work independently

• Enthusiasm to create a new business

• Positive attitude and motivation to create one's own career path

• Flexible and able to respond quickly in dynamic situations

• Natural flair for engaging people from diverse backgrounds and cultures

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

• Experience in sales/logistics/accounting/marketing is a plus, but not required
