Cafe Assistant Manager

Café FuFu is a cosy 30-seat woodfired pizza and pasta café tucked in the heart of Redhill. We're a small but passionate team that takes food, coffee, and neighbourhood hospitality seriously. As we grow, we're looking for an Assistant Manager who genuinely enjoys people, takes pride in the details, and wants to help us build something great.

You'll work closely with the owner to keep the floor running smoothly, support the team, and ensure every customer leaves happy. This is a hands-on role — you're on the floor, leading by example, not just managing from the sidelines.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Run daily FOH operations — briefings, floor management, opening and closing
• Ensure every customer receives warm, attentive service from arrival to departure
• Supervise and support part-timers and full-time staff on shift
• Drive sales — actively push specials, upsell, and train the team to do the same
• Manage stock levels, flag low inventory, and liaise with suppliers when needed
• Handle customer feedback and resolve issues calmly and professionally
• Work with the kitchen team on specials, items to push, and daily briefings
• Assist with scheduling, attendance, and PT management
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and service standards throughout every shift
• Support promotional ideas, Telegram channel updates, and community engagement
  

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• At least 2-3 years of experience in F&B, with some supervisory or lead experience
• Must have experience with coffee — understanding of espresso-based drinks and café coffee standards
• Comfortable in a small, independent café environment — no two days are the same
• Strong on the floor — warm with customers, firm with standards
• Takes initiative without needing to be reminded
• Able to drive sales naturally — not pushy, just confident and engaging
• Good communicator — with the team, with customers, and with the owner
• Organised, reliable, and able to manage a small team of full-timers and part-timers
• Passionate about hospitality and genuinely cares about the customer experience

GOOD TO HAVE

• Experience with POS systems (we use Qashier)
• Familiarity with Oddle, Grab, or delivery platforms
• Some knowledge of P&L, food costing, or inventory management
• Experience putting together promotions, hitting KPIs, and working towards sales targets
• Social media savvy — able to help with Telegram or Instagram content

• 5 day work week, 44 – 48 hours
• Available on weekends and PH
