Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

Gold Leaf Production:

• Beating gold into ultra-thin sheets (gold leaf) using a traditional hammering process or modern machinery.
• Ensuring the gold is evenly beaten to the correct thickness for its intended use.
• Handling various types of gold, including pure gold or alloys, depending on the application.

Preparation of Gold Sheets:

• Preparing the gold by melting and shaping it into small ingots or blocks, before beginning the beating process.
• Carefully monitoring the thickness of the gold sheets, which typically range from 0.0001 to 0.005 millimeters.

Precision Work:

• Ensuring that the gold leaf is uniform in thickness and free from tears or other defects.
• Handling tools such as hammers, anvils, and mallets, along with specialized equipment like beating machines.

Gilding Process Support:

• Collaborating with other artisans or manufacturers in the gilding process, applying gold leaf to objects like picture frames, architectural elements, religious artifacts, and furniture.
• Using tools like brushes, sponges, or gilding adhesives to apply the gold leaf to surfaces.

Maintenance of Tools and Equipment:

• Maintaining and sharpening tools used in gold beating, including hammers and anvils.
• Keeping the workspace clean and organized to ensure safety and productivity.
• Make repairs, by replacing broken clasps, altering sizes, resetting stones, pendants, lockets, rings, brooches and bracelets.
• Beats gold strips into gold leaf, using hammers, for use in decorating jewellery
• Create jewellery from gold, silver, and precious gemstones
• Make a model with carved wax or with computer-aided design, and then cast pieces with the model
• Examine and grade diamonds and other gems
• Clean and polish jewellery using polishing wheels and chemical baths
• Compute the costs of labour and material for new pieces and repairs
• Solder pieces together and insert stones
• Smooth joints and rough spots and polish smoothed areas
• Shape metal to hold the gems when making individual pieces

• Adhere to all applicable safety and health regulations pertaining to ergonomics, quality control, protective gear, hazardous

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 10 years
• Should be able to work in a team and give an individual contribution towards the creative ideas
• Should be Innovative and should be updated to the latest trends
• Preferably to communicate well in English and Tamil to liaise with Indian speaking clients/customers in view of working/business environment communication
• Must be well organized and driven to meet customer deadlines
• Creative thinking and vision, to produce new ideas
• Highly developed design skills and thorough manufacturing knowledge of jewellery techniques
• Should be able to understand the concepts of clients’ requirement
