The Role
Mars Veterinary Health (MVH) aspires to make “A Better World for Pets” by advancing the veterinary profession in Singapore and the region. In this role, P&O plays an essential position in supporting and enabling MVH Singapore Leadership, hospital/ clinic management and associates to cultivate a working environment where talent will be drawn to join, stay, and grow. This means establishing trusted partnerships with MVH Singapore leaders and associates to cultivate a welcoming and supportive community and to establish programs that prioritize the growth, development, and well-being of MVH associates in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
The People & Organisation (P&O) Business Partner works with MVH Singapore leaders to oversee and support the full cycle of associate experience in MVH hospitals in Singapore – onboarding, performance management, associate engagement, relations, separations and offboarding. Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars and Associate Concept throughout the whole cycle.
Complete associate onboarding to ensure that each associate feels welcome and has a positive experience;
Ensure that our workforce is treated fairly and reasonably at all times by helping associates to resolve conflicts and dealing with a myriad of complex personnel management situations. Respond to associate concerns to ensure that every member of the team feels “heard” and well-treated;
Conduct workplace investigations;
Cultivate a community of MVH hospitals that promotes continuous learning and improvement representing a destination of choice for veterinary professionals in Singapore;
Lead annual and on-going P&O processes i.e. compensation reviews and performance reviews in collaboration with the hospital’s leadership team;
Serve as Human Resources Point of Contact for all Associate Relations issues;
Partner hospital leadership with respect to corrective action and separations;
In Business Partnership and Advisory capacity, lead hospitals top people priorities – i.e. leadership coaching and capabilities, workforce and talent planning, health & wellbeing, total rewards, Mars signature programs development etc.
Educate and advise hospital management and associates on the importance of our culture and how they can incorporate The Five Principles into daily activities and decision making.
Support MVH hospital leadership to ensure that the team is well cast, with the right talent in the right roles;
Develop the team for bench strength and succession planning;
Guide hospital leaders on best practices, as well as hospital guidelines and company policies;
Ensure that team members have a strong understanding of total rewards enhancements and healthcare eligibility;
Support training and development of hospital team, including leadership training for hospital teams;
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining business networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Demonstrate ability to understand how the hospital operates to implement the right solutions.
Partner with MVH regional P&O Director, deploy Mars signature programs (i.e. Introduction to the Essence of Mars, Associate Survey, Make The Difference, Associate Development plans, Great Line Management etc.) at the right timing for hospitals.
The incumbent must be hands–on, comfortable in a fast–pace working environment, being approachable and a “listener” from hospital associates and generate insights to enhance workplace engagement. Associate Relations experience is compulsory.
The incumbent will be self–motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
The incumbent will have the ability to deliver consistent results by creating strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
The successful incumbent will have excellent change management skills, combined with the ability to manage concurrent priorities and tasks.
In addition to being a skilled communicator, the successful candidate will need to have experience influencing others in an advisory capacity.
Requirements
Degree in Human Resources, Business or compulsory related experience.
Minimally 8 years of experience in HR Generalist role and dealing with employee relations issues.
Prior service industry (human health, retail, F&B, hospitality) experience facing front line team highly preferred.
Experience with Singapore local labour laws and regulations.
Demonstrated competence inaccurately and successfully advising managers on complex HR matters.
Fluent in English. Mandarin is a plus.
Strong stakeholder management skills and communication skills.
Prior experience with Infotech and Workday preferred.
Affection and comfort with companion animals (dogs and cats) and other animals.
