The Procurement Manager – Scrap Metal is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies to secure a reliable and cost-effective supply of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. The role is accountable for supplier acquisition, contract negotiation, procurement planning, market intelligence, and cost optimization while ensuring continuous supply to support business operations and profitability.
The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of scrap metal markets, commodity pricing, supplier management, and industrial procurement practices. This position requires a highly commercial and results-driven individual capable of building long-term supplier relationships while maximizing procurement volumes and margins.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
Develop and implement procurement strategies to secure sustainable scrap metal supply.
Identify and acquire new suppliers from manufacturing, construction, demolition, marine, engineering, logistics, oil & gas, and industrial sectors.
Source ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals in accordance with business requirements.
Maintain a diversified supplier portfolio to minimize supply risks.
Establish long-term procurement agreements with strategic suppliers.
Supplier Development & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, brokers, traders, and industrial clients.
Conduct supplier visits, audits, and performance reviews.
Negotiate favorable pricing, payment terms, and contract conditions.
Resolve supplier disputes and commercial issues promptly.
Procurement Operations
Manage end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, quotation evaluation, contract negotiation, purchase orders, and supplier performance management.
Ensure procurement targets and inventory requirements are achieved.
Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to ensure timely collection and delivery of materials.
Monitor procurement schedules and supplier commitments.
Market Intelligence & Commodity Analysis
Monitor local and international scrap metal market trends.
Analyze commodity price movements and market conditions.
Provide procurement recommendations based on pricing trends and business requirements.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement.
Commercial & Financial Management
Manage procurement budgets and cost controls.
Negotiate procurement contracts to maximize business profitability.
Prepare procurement forecasts and monthly purchasing plans.
Monitor procurement KPIs and performance metrics.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
Verify supplier compliance with environmental, safety, and legal requirements.
Assess supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or related discipline.
Professional procurement certifications are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum 5–8 years of procurement, sourcing, trading, or supply chain experience.
At least 3 years within metals recycling, scrap trading, steel manufacturing, commodities, waste management, or industrial sectors.
Proven track record in managing high-volume procurement activities.
Experience negotiating commercial contracts and supplier agreements.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
