Senior Cook

The Senior Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality food, supervising kitchen operations, and ensuring all food is produced safely, efficiently, and consistently in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present food according to approved recipes and quality standards.
• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of kitchen staff.
• Ensure food is prepared and served on time while maintaining consistency and quality.
• Monitor food preparation, portion control, and presentation.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Inspect ingredients and finished products to ensure freshness and quality.
• Plan daily food production based on operational requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, and storing food supplies.
• Minimize food waste and ensure efficient use of ingredients.
• Train and mentor junior cooks and kitchen assistants.
• Ensure proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and report equipment faults or safety concerns.
• Assist the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager with menu preparation and kitchen operations.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Cook or Senior Cook in a restaurant, catering, central kitchen, or food manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
• Ability to supervise and lead a kitchen team.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit and able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Food Hygiene Certificate or relevant culinary qualification is an advantage.
