Job Description - Supervisor

The Canteen Supervisor is responsible for managing daily canteen operations, supervising staff, ensuring food quality and hygiene standards, controlling inventory, and providing efficient service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily canteen operations and activities.
  • Manage and assign duties to cooks, kitchen assistants, and service staff.
  • Ensure food preparation, serving, and presentation meet quality standards.
  • Monitor food hygiene, cleanliness, and sanitation practices.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and HACCP procedures.
  • Check food quality, temperature, taste, and portion control before service.
  • Monitor customer service standards and handle customer feedback or complaints.
  • Maintain proper stock levels and coordinate food and supply ordering.
  • Receive, inspect, and store food deliveries according to safety standards.
  • Control food costs and reduce waste through effective planning.
  • Prepare duty schedules and manage staff attendance.
  • Train new employees on canteen procedures, hygiene, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure kitchen, dining area, and equipment are clean and well maintained.
  • Monitor equipment condition and report repair or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, wastage, and daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, workplace safety rules, and health regulations.
  • Coordinate with management regarding operational issues and improvements.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in canteen, catering, restaurant, or food service supervision.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control and cost management.
