Technician

Mission/Purpose of the Job

• Responsible for vehicle repair, diagnostic, service maintenance.
• Ensure all assigned jobs are carried out according to UD/Volvo Quality Standards.

Key responsibilities/Accountabilities

• To perform all repairs (mechanical, electrical, electronic etc).
• To perform all overhaul repair.
• To perform all troubleshooting and diagnostics with appropriate recommendations.
• To provide guidance to other technicians as and when required.
• To ensure Utilization, Efficiency and Productivity are achieved.
• To check and provide correct recommended Parts details in the Work Order as and when required.
• To carry out service maintenance on the trucks.
• To record repair time and detail of repair in the Work Order.
• To keep Team Leader updated on the repair details and repair requirements.
• Adhere to warranty process and procedures (warranty tagging of parts, return and storage of warranty parts etc).
• Ensure good housekeeping of work bay.
• Accountable for all tools and equipment handling and usage.
• Ethical compliance of genuine parts replacement and service rendered according to the checklist and scope of works.
• Ensure all service and repairs are performed thoroughly and in accordance with good quality practice and procedures adhering to manufacturers standard 4 (Singapore).
• Lead by example to ensure high level of Health & Safety performance within the area of responsibility.
• Adhere to UD Trucks processes and policies.
• Any other duties assigned by your immediate superior.

Essential Educational and/or Training Qualifications and Certificates

• NITEC in Automotive Technology or former NTC 3/2 in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or NTC 3/2 Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics or Diploma in Automotive Engineering or related field.
• Preferred with valid Class 3 / 4 / 5 driving license (Singapore).

Preferred Experience and Knowledge

• Minimum of 3 – 5 years working experience in servicing and repairing heavy trucks (Japanese and Continental brands).
• Basic Vehicle Principles and Concepts.
• Basic engine, transmission and brake system knowledge.
• Multi-meter basic electrical values.
• Knowledge in vehicle electrical circuit diagram.
