Mechanical Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems, mechanisms, equipment modules, fixtures, jigs, tooling, and related components.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop mechanical solutions from concept design through prototype build, testing, troubleshooting, and release.
• Perform tolerance analysis, fit checks, clearance checks, interference checks, and basic engineering calculations.
• Select suitable materials, fasteners, bearings, actuators, guides, purchased parts, and fabrication methods.
• Work closely with electrical, software, production, assembly, and vendor teams to ensure proper system integration.
• Support prototype builds, machine assembly, testing, debugging, and design verification activities.
• Analyze and improve existing designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and ease of assembly.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, drawings, design records, test notes, and engineering reports.
• Ensure designs comply with internal engineering standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for part design, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of mechanical design principles, mechanisms, tolerancing, materials, machining, sheet metal, and assembly methods.
• Able to think through complete mechanical systems, not only individual parts.
• Experience in automation equipment, semiconductor equipment, test equipment, fixtures, jigs, tooling, thermal systems, or machine design is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with prototype build, machine troubleshooting, design validation, or production support is an advantage.
• Able to communicate clearly with internal teams, vendors, machinists, and assembly personnel.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of mechanical design issues.
• Based in Singapore and willing to travel for oversea supports.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with precision mechanical design, automation systems, or equipment development.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, DFM/DFA, and BOM management.
• Familiarity with machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, standard mechanical components, and supplier coordination.
• Experience supporting machine commissioning, testing, debugging, or customer-specific engineering requirements.
• Ability to balance design performance, cost, lead time, and ease of maintenance.
