Child Psychology Intern

At ONE Intervention Centre, we empower children with diverse developmental needs to reach their fullest potential. Our award-winning centre provides evidence-based intervention for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, Global Developmental Delay, Speech and Language Delays, Down Syndrome, and other developmental differences.

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, curious, and motivated Child Psychology Intern to join our multidisciplinary team. Working closely under the supervision of our Child Psychologist, you will gain practical exposure to psychological assessment, behavioural observation, intervention planning, and evidence-based strategies within an early intervention setting.

This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in child psychology, developmental psychology, educational psychology, clinical psychology, or related disciplines who wish to gain meaningful hands-on experience working with children with diverse developmental needs.

Internship Duration & Commitment

Commencement: August/September 2026 – January/February 2027

Minimum Commitment: 6 months (Full-Time)

This internship is conducted on a full-time basis. Applicants who are concurrently attending classes or enrolled in full-time studies will not be considered.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 6.30pm

Key Responsibilities

Observe intervention sessions conducted by the Child Psychologist.

Assist in implementing individualised intervention plans under the supervision of the Child Psychologist.

Conduct behavioural observations and collect objective data to support clinical decision-making.

Document children's developmental progress, behavioural patterns, and session outcomes accurately.

Assist in preparing intervention materials, visual supports, social stories, and behaviour management resources.

Participate in case discussions, multidisciplinary meetings, and treatment planning.

Conduct literature reviews and research on child development, developmental disorders, behavioural interventions, and evidence-based psychological practices.

Support the implementation of behavioural, emotional regulation, social communication, and executive functioning strategies during individual and group sessions.

Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards when working with children and families.

Professional Development

Throughout the internship, interns will:

  • Gain hands-on experience applying psychological principles within an early intervention setting.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of child development, neurodevelopmental conditions, and evidence-based intervention.
  • Strengthen behavioural observation, documentation, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Build confidence working directly with children through supervised practice.
  • Enhance communication skills through collaboration with psychologists, educators, therapists, and families.
  • Receive regular supervision, mentoring, and constructive feedback from experienced professionals.

Mandatory Professional Development

As part of the internship programme, all Child Psychology Interns are required to complete internal training and supervised competency assessments in the following areas:

  • Principles of the Orton-Gillingham Approach – Evidence-based literacy instruction and intervention strategies for children with dyslexia and reading difficulties.
  • Sensory Processing and Regulation in Early Intervention – Understanding sensory processing, sensory regulation, and practical strategies to support participation and learning.
  • Communication Expansion Strategies (Hanen-based Principles) – Techniques to promote children's language development, communication, and social interaction through responsive adult-child interactions.

Additional internal training may be provided throughout the internship based on ongoing professional development needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Child Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology,or a related discipline.

We also welcome applications from A-Level graduates with a strong interest in child psychology, a positive learning attitude, and a genuine passion for supporting children with diverse developmental needs.
