Dance Instructor

Job Summary

Prepare and teach classical ballet classes for students from toddlers to adults, guiding them toward professional dance careers. Lead and develop junior instructors, plan and deliver lesson plans, and create choreography for student productions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and teach engaging classical ballet classes for students aged toddler to adult to develop their dance skills and career potential
• Plan, prepare, and deliver structured lesson plans and syllabi aligned with the RAD syllabus
• Conduct teachers’ meetings to communicate syllabus updates and ensure consistent teaching standards
• Demonstrate and explain proper ballet techniques to students for effective learning
• Connect with students to capture their attention and deliver clear, concise instruction
• Identify individual student needs and support development of each child’s dance potential
• Prepare students for yearly dance examinations to meet professional standards
• Attend professional development programs to update teaching methods and curriculum knowledge
• Independently manage teaching responsibilities while maintaining effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Present a professional image in appearance and demeanor at all times
• Organize and conduct annual open house events to showcase the school’s programs
• Participate actively in school events such as dance workshops and master classes
• Create choreography for the annual student production, including music selection and costume coordination
• Reflect on teaching practices, set improvement goals, receive feedback, and implement new strategies to enhance student achievement

Required competencies and certifications

• Hold a minimum of RAD Advanced 2 Certificate of Achievement or Dance Diploma with teaching or professional performing experience
• Possess at least a Dance Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in any field
• Have a minimum of 1 year teaching experience in the RAD syllabus

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Possess CBTS (RAD) certification, Dance Degree qualifications, or professional performing experience
