Job Description

The Primary English Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective English lessons that develop students' language proficiency, confidence, and critical thinking skills. The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment while supporting each student's academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons aligned with the School's curriculum and academic standards.
• Teach reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, comprehension, and composition.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the different learning needs and abilities of students.
• Foster curiosity, creativity, confidence, and a love for learning.
• Encourage students to think independently and communicate effectively.

Classroom Management

• Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
• Establish clear classroom expectations and promote positive behaviour.
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times.

Student Assessment

• Assess students through classwork, homework, projects, quizzes, and examinations.
• Monitor students' academic progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Prepare student reports and maintain accurate academic records.

Parent Communication

• Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents regarding students' academic progress and behaviour.
• Attend parent-teacher meetings and provide timely updates when necessary.

School Responsibilities

• Attend staff meetings, training programmes, and professional development sessions.
• Participate in School activities, events, and projects as assigned.
• Collaborate with colleagues and the Head of Department to continuously improve teaching quality.
• Perform other duties reasonably assigned by the School.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related discipline.
• Teaching qualification (PGDE, PGCE, NIE, Diploma in Education, or equivalent) is preferred.

Experience

• At least 2 years of teaching experience at the primary school level is preferred.
• Experience teaching the Singapore MOE English syllabus, AEIS English, Cambridge English, or equivalent programmes is an advantage.
• Fresh graduates with excellent academic results and a strong passion for teaching are welcome to apply.
